Allied NYC Maps
NYC's youth-made Green Maps inform community members about what young people observe and value about the environment and help propel us all towards a healthier, more sustainable future. We welcome new projects in schools, all-ages clubs, religious organizations, and by individual young people in every neighborhood.

We have worked with a number of schools and educational organizations across New York City to create youth and community driven projects. They are listed below (or download a list here).

New Tools!: exciting new educational modules for middle and high school age youth were created in Fall 2007. Download these free Energy & Environment Exploration modules now! We have also updated all our Green Mapmaking resources, available to all registered Green Mapmakers via GreenMap.org, our main website (click Resources for a preview).

Older people involved in community groups have begun to create Green Apple Maps as well - the first was published by NYC Sierra Club's Eco Restoration Committee and charts upper Manhattan's High Bridge Park. We have also partnered with the Upper Green Side, and two projects in Brooklyn's Green Fort Greene - Clinton Hill area, too. For more about these projects, click "Community Green Maps" on the left.

This section provides an introduction to several wonderful independently-run projects, both underway and completed, in NYC's five boroughs.

You can find out about Green Map System's youth tools here too (although much more about our Youth Mapmaking Resources can be seen in the global Youth Mapmaking pages at GreenMap.org/youth). And don't miss the wonderful gallery of global youth maps -- youth in 14 countries have created Green Maps to date!

Note: people sometimes ask, what is the difference between youth Green Maps in general and one like LoMap?
LoMap brought youth ideas and images together, then the map was composed and produced by adults. Neighborhood and thematic maps by youth are planned, researched, authored and designed by youth themselves.
