Our NYC Maps & Tools
Green Apple Maps offer a fresh view of New York City’s environment, reminding us how good it is to enjoy nature, culture and green living near our homes. Together, we are learning how to get around, dine, work and play in ways that help regenerate the ecosystems of the 321 square miles of land and the waterways that surround us!

In this section you’ll find Green Apple Maps that we have created with the dedicated help of our staff and interns. A wide selection of related resources, including Chinese and Spanish resources and our downloadable Energy & Environment Exploration education modules are found here, as well. The list below gives you a brief overview of our many projects. Use the links below – or on the left – to get more information about each project, and to download copies of our Green Apple Maps in PDF format.

The Green Apple Map is the original Green Map! First published in 1992, this comprehensive edition has been updated several times over the years. The latest update and printing occurred in 2000. It 2008, a new interactive version will take shape, too!

New Education Modules
Energy & Environment Exploration modules designed for educators, middle and high school students provide creative guidance and resources for exploring New York City’s energy systems and environment from a sustainable perspective – both inside and outside of the classroom!

Our maps and mapmaking resources have appeared in scores of magazines and books! Thanks to all for sharing our story with broad audiences.

"Whether helping people create a comprehensive view of a region or a close-up of a city neighborhood, the Green Map System is ultimately about the recognition and revitalization of sustainable living".
